Coronado High School, in Colorado Springs School District 11, is a comprehensive high school for grades nine through twelve, with a current enrollment of 1365 students. Coronado is home to several award-winning academic and vocational programs, including ProStart, Project Lead-the-Way, and an Automotive Technician Program. Coronado also offers outstanding award winning programs in band, orchestra, and vocal music. Coronado High School is accredited by the Colorado Department of Education, and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Association of College Admission Counseling, the College Board, the Colorado School Counselor Association, and the Colorado Council on High School/College Relations. Coronado students may choose classes from a challenging and exciting curriculum with over 200 course offerings, including traditional, college prep, Advanced Placement, the CU Succeed Gold Post-Secondary, or vocational programs. The course offerings include over 18 honors-level courses and 13 Advanced Placement Courses. Students can pursue additional academic challenges by taking post-secondary courses through Pikes Peak Community College or the University of Colorado.Coronado students can complete challenging university course work and earn college credit while still in high school by enrolling in select introductory courses from CU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Arts & Media, and College of Engineering and Applied Science. Students have been able to earn nearly 1000 hours of credits through the University of Colorado giving them a cost-effective option as many of them look toward their post-secondary choices.The Applied Technology Department offers a four-year pre-engineering program entitled Project Lead the Way. This program allows students to explore the field of engineering and engineering technology through a series of classes that include computer-aided drafting, design, prototyping and fabrication.ProStart is a two-year nationally certified program that gives 11th and 12th grade students experience and career exploration opportunities in restaurant, hotel, and hospitality industries.Coronado High School offers an intense teacher training program for high school students.
